I worked at Target for a few months while in college. The management was, for the most part, wonderful. They don't hire just any under-achieving moron who's just happened to work in retail for 10 years. They do a lot of promoting within the company. The benefits kind of suck, you get a 10% discount and you can only use it with cash or a Target debit or credit card... which sort of sucks, but the debit card is free and has many perks as well. They were pretty good with following schedule restrictions, such as needing time off for classes and whatnot. They also cross-train, which allows you to make yourself available to work in just about any department, picking up as many hours as you need. I can't speak for any other locations than the one that I worked at, and maybe I just had good luck at this one, but it was a pretty cool place to work.
