There is a Union contract with a pay scale so salary increases are on a schedule. The pay isn't anything to brag about and no one gets a raise for above average performance. You can work twice as hard as the person next to you and get paid the same.
Respect is average and seems to be something that has to be earned.
Health benefits are provided at no cost with the exceptions of co-pays. Great prescription, dental, and eye care plans. Vacation, Sick, & personal leave also in the contract.
The hours are cool... you can start at 7:30 and be out at 3:00 avoiding rush hour.
Definite job security. People get away with almost anything and are still employed.
No problems with work/life balance. They are very understanding of those with children or that need to attend to family matters. They never decline vacations.
Career potential has nothing to do with job performance. It's all about the brown nosing.
Location isn't the best. About half the company are commuters from all counties in MD and a few from VA.
Co-worker competence is a joke. There's not enough space here to even begin to explain the level of ignorance I witness on a daily basis.
The environment as far as the outside is decent. Somewhat of a business park with good parking. Landscaping is well maintained and kept clean. Inside teh cubes are spaced far enough apart so no one is really breathing down the back of your neck. Office is also kept clean but it's always cold...cold as in people wear sweaters and bring in thermal blankets. Well, except for the "big boned" workers who make sure the vending machine guy has job security.

Overall, it's an okay place to work if you're looking for a boring, no brainer job. Not for those who actually have a good work ethic or prefer to keep a level of privacy about their personal life.
