Farmers Insurance is a great place to work as an insurance agent provided you are coming to the table with an excess of marketing, customer service, and sales experience. If you are a rookie in any of these categories, try to go in as a customer service rep or agency producer before going as an agent and you will be fine.

For underwriters, your benefits are second to none, having some of the best in the industry with all sorts of great opportunities from 401(k)s to group healthcare at a very reasonable rate. They also offer plenty of vacation time and do not come down hard if you make a few mistakes in the beginning; they are not a company that kicks you out after the first week if you make an error, they work with you and build you up.

For adjusters, you can't do better than to work for Farmers. You always get good calls and are always getting every opportunity that the company has to offer. They work their claims efficiently so be ready to be quick when crunching numbers. Speed and precision is the key, because they do work their claims very rapidly.

District managers cannot affect your agency; you have job security provided that your area is not being discontinued and that you pay by the rules in the book. If you try to be sneaky, the insurance industry will bite you in the ass very quickly and can lead to federal offenses (aka DON'T TRY IT!) The marketing team is always ready to stand up to the plate when you are feeling unnecessary heat from your district manager and the home office is always open to improving the overall structure and work environment for its agency force.

Overall, as long as you are not near the coastline, Farmers has a long future ahead of it and is always looking to expand their market. A great place to start a business, work under someone's agency, have great job security and flexibility, and have a chance to start a long-lasting career in the insurance industry.
