I worked as a sales assistant for the company. The salary is really well compared to other retailers. The benefits the company offers such as share scheme, sick payment, discount and some other are great as well. Retail jobs are usually more secured than executive jobs unless you steal. This company is more tolerant to sickness than others. You have a good work-life balance provided that you have fixed shcedule. If you have to work shifts, then that is a different story. One problem is they give you two breaks (which are not paid) in a 7.5 hours shift whick takes the total hour at the work-place to 9.5 every day. That is the way the cover their opening times. I have seen many people working for the company for more a decade without a promotion. There are potential to grow within the company but favourism plays the game. There is no proper monitoring system to progress. Boots stores are everywhere in the UK. So, the location is something I better not talk about. Competence of co-workers really vary. I have seen some people really competent who have been working for only a few months. I also had a line manager whom I would not even recruit for any job. The work environment is pretty well although there were dissatisfaction about the management as the new manager we was controlled by their line manager and had no respect for the subordinates.
