I have worked at Melmark New England for over 7 years in a variety of positions, and have to say although it is one of the toughest jobs I have ever had (some days are easier than others of course) I do love my job and actually look forward to coming into work every day. I find the staff here (I am lucky enough to interact with both school and residential staff) all have the students and their families as their number one priority. There are fantastic professional development opportunities, great tuition reimbursement programs and a number of opportunities for career growth in both settings -- school and residence. If you are interested in working with children/young adults on the autism spectrum or with other developmental disabilities, I would highly recommend looking into Melmark New England.

Have worked in residences for three years (two different sites). Don't love the hours and weekend.

Love the student work is hard, but the kids do great. The hours work for me. I have also taken advantage of the tuition reimbursement and will be finishing my master's degree this year. Lots of staff training. Then I may move to the school program.

Tuition benefit program was the only way I could afford graduate school....

This organization has very high standards from all employees. They also provide excellent training and mentoring that assists one in meeting those high standards. The senior team has a tremendous amount of experience in the field which makes their mentoring that much more effective. With the high standards, real results with the children served are experienced on a daily basis---providing me with enrichment beyond my salary and benefits.

I have been at Melmark for over 9 years and have met some amazing people along the way. There is such a friendly atmosphere there at well. The staff are extremely dedicated to the Melmark's mission. While at Melmark I have been in many different roles and in each of them I have been supported by my supervisors to their fullest extent. Melmark appreciates their employees and always to provide the best training possible. It is a wonderful company to work for.

Melmark New England is a school for autistic kids in Andover, Massachusetts. Great place to work. Easy commute, decent pay and good balance of my time and their time. Coworkers are teachers and other "direct care" staff. Biggest hearts I've ever come across. Management is caring, accessible, fair and honest. Benefits are very good for a non-profit organization. Company is 10 years old, with 30% of staff there 5+ years. If you have the need to offer the caring that these kids require, contact the school. You won't be sorry you talked with them.
