Keyspan Energy is a good place to work for if job security is a big concern for you. Most of the people work there because they feel secure that the company will not go out of business and they will always have a job.

The company has two distinct classes the 1) Union and 2) management.

Most people in the union are there for life. Many only have high school and went technical school like boces and are pulling in 30- 45 dollars an hour. If anyone in the union lost their jobs they would be in a bad situation. Because of this the union has a huge influence over the company, and policy.

Many in management quite happy they have a secure job and could care less about advancing, therefore it is quite difficult to advance unless you came out of the management training program or someone in your area retires.

The biggest problem in the company is that advancement only comes unless you name ends in a vowel. Itís quite obvious that the majority of the corner offices are occupied by white Irish or Italian men. Very few women are black people are given leadership positions, but Keyspan is working to fix the problem through various programs.

I donít know if any of this is going to change when National Grid implements its polices.
