POSITIVES: Great work/life benefits (flex work schedule, wellness program, Federal holiday schedule, lots of annual vacation and sick leave). Can usually make it to GS-14 effortlessly in most career tracks ("ok" money considering all of the time off you have!). Excellent job security. Plenty of opportunity to advance your career and shape your surroundings. NEGATIVES: Since there is no "bottom line" in the Govt, there is no incentive to work hard. Be prepared to encounter lots of highly paid unmotivated people of questionable competence. Commute is lousy. Beaurocracy is rampant.
