This review is for the research associate position. Once you've been here a while and have seen all the shady sh** that gets pulled on a regular basis by upper management, it really isn't that bad. The job is really easy, it just takes some getting used to. You aren't going to learn much about commercial real estate, and the "career path" is a joke. The pay, benefits, and location are decent. Everything else is barely tolerable. Bottom line, this is a job, not a career.

I work in field research, and I have to say this is the most laid back job I have ever had. It's especially nice because field researchers only have to deal with one person (their managers) and if you have a good manager (which I do) it's especially easy. I may not get paid as much as the office folks but from the looks of this website I think I'll take my lower paycheck over what you all have to go through. In all seriousness though, my apologies to you people who work in Columbia and Bethesda, it sounds like working in the office for this company really sucks.

I actually enjoy my job at CoStar a great deal. I like the people I work with and most managers are very nice.
The meeting was a little long but I thought it was informative and it's not like they are taking our lunch time away to do this. It was 45 minutes! The crying and complaining from some of my coworkers is almost comical!

It looks like 5 people write the same crap. What I find sad is how they complain about the job that most of us like. Such a degree of resentment to your job. This is a free country and CoStar is absolutely not the only job out there. If you hate it that much you owe to yourself to quit and go someplace else where you probably complain about that job too. More importantly you owe it to the people that actually like working here so we don't have eternally wine about

Costar is definitely a blessing in disguise and anyone who sees the opportunity for the long run will get rewarded greatly in the end. Have a conversation with anyone in upper management and they aren't as bad as some people are making them to be. Ask not what your Company can do for you, but what can you do for your Company.

I haven't had that bad an experience with this company, but I'm a field researcher and don't have to deal with office politics like everyone else has to. My advice is if there's a field research position available I would hop on it quick. The pay isn't great, but I'm not stuck in an office every day, I get to travel around a bit, and I don't have to deal with any annoying bosses or clients all day.

I've been with the company a little over 2 years. I worked in Columbia and now Bethesda. The opportunity for advancement is certainly there as I've experienced it first hand. There are challenges with metrics and frequent change, but nothing you can't overcome with hard work (no I didn't sleep with anybody). I heard some people talking about this site and how they love venting on it. I'm sure my fellow employees will have fun with my vent or lack of.

I guess for those that hate it so much you'd have to ask yourself who is to blame? CoStar? If I felt so under paid, under appreciated, over worked then I'd make a change. Every day you live in misery is your own doing. I know I was in misery when the company gave us off Wednesday and Thursday with pay. Maybe Wednesday came with a little delay, but at least they made the right decision in the end.

Good luck to those of you that are actively searching. I'm sure your positive energy will be very evident as you continue to interview. The grass is always greener.

To those casting stones at AF do a little research. I've never sat down and talked with him, but much of the companies success is a result of him. We just paid $40M for a building that sold for almost $80M a couple of years ago. So would you prefer to work for a company in the red, loaded with debt, and no vision? Or be with a debt free company that is still expanding and paying cash for its new HQ? The company has it's challenges, but who doesn't? It's called work for a reason. My husband comes home every night and complains about his job which always reminds me of how little I have to complain about.

I look forward to your negative feedback as to how someone paid me to post this or I slept with someone to get promoted. Again I wish you the best of luck in finding greener pastures so you can rid yourself of the misery you're currently experiencing. How long do you think it will take to make your first post at your new job? Is it the employer or you?

This is the best company in the USA. Everyone loves it and the pay is amazing!!!!! Where else can you make $70,000 updating lease properties and completing sales comps.
