Wow, never knew these types of sites existed, but glad they do as I can now recollect my past employment and employer reviews. I was hired as a 1099, know full well I would be not receiving benefits or salary. I was taking a huge risk, but that's the name of the game in sales these days, especially for smaller businesses. Going down the list of this critique...

PAY: could be very good, if you get contracts, so I never really knew the full potential; the commission structure was nice and fair and of course I agreed with my signature

RESPECT: respect was there most of the time, some head butting took place, but I was new to the business and industry and treated as an equal in my mind

BENEFITS: no benefits were provided, big drawback

JOB SECURITY: as a 1099 you are considered expendable, which I've done in the past, but I believe there could be some great job security, just not what I found with cold calling not working at all

WORK/LIFE BALANCE: Not much to say here, I worked my butt off during normal business hours and attended some networking events on my own dollar and for my benefit

CAREER POTENTIAL/GROWTH: lots of potential I think as technology is booming these days

LOCATION: great location in my mind, close to many places and easily accessible for highways, big streets, restaurants, coffee houses, Uptown, etc... South End is very cool

CO-WORKER COMPETENCE: when I was there there was a lot of sales people and I saw a couple office maangers; we were all learning, some were lying about appointments, others didnt really care what happened as they seemed to be just "filling the job void" - mainly the office managers and I think I know who's responses are below; others worked their heart out and I learned a lot from them and was appreciative for their guidance and influence

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The environment was challenging, but very flexible. I wasn't required to be there at 8:30am or be back in the office at 5:30pm. I did like that a lot, but keep lines of communication open and be honest if you're going to work for Zirez. The owner knows lots of people and has received feedback from some others you would never expect regarding your whereabouts or "appointments" so I've heard from other sales reps being fired for lying.

Overall, Zirez was a decent place to work as I've had worse and can't wait to post for them. Things could be inproved upon but that happens with any smaller company. I was never forced to do networking events, only encouraged to attend. I was never forced to provide sales reports, but we did hold a Monday morning meeting each week (pretty standard in most sales environments). Some micromanaging took place which can be a drag sometimes, but again understandable in a sales environment. If you're going to work for Zirez keep a strong head, speak your opinions, ask questions and work hard. I came from a completely different sales background so I was not a fit, which was fine, the sales process in the web world can be short, long, simple, complex, but it's all very interesting. The company is constantly growing. If you put in the hard work in this businesses, you'll succeed in many aspects of life from finances, knowledge, job promotions, personal growth and development, etc. The owner, Sanjay, is intelligent and a savvy business owner willing to help when and where he can as long as it can be discussed like professionals and without disrespect. I'm looking forward to the coming years with Zirez.
